A million sketches of dream cars are produced every year in design studios, art schools, study halls and social studies classes. Just a small fraction of these ever get produced, so when a sketch does finally turn into a reality, it's a big deal. Often, the final product has no similarity to the original sketch. In the case of the CR-Z, the final product is, perhaps more than any other car in recent years, the incarnation of the designer's dream.
So who is the exterior designer? His name is Motoaki Minowa, and he has been drawing cars for as long as he can remember. Regarding the CR-Z, he states, "Because of the times we live in, we need to think of an enjoyable dream for a brighter future...with that in mind, we want people to really experience the fun of this new vehicle." While it wasn't easy to sell the idea of a sport hybrid at first, he and the rest of the CR-Z team persevered and created a hybrid that not only looks good but is also a hoot to drive.
