This year, Green Car Journal gave the "2012 Green Car of the Year®" award to the Civic Natural Gas. In a field that featured countless innovative technologies and new approaches to eco-conscious motoring, the jury of environmental and automotive experts was most impressed by the total package offered by the Civic Natural Gas.
The J.D. Power and Associates Initial Quality Study SM (IQS) ranked Honda Accord, Civic, Fit, Insight, Crosstour, Element and Ridgeline as the highest performers in defined car and truck segments within the first 90 days of vehicle ownership. Awards included "Highest Ranked in Initial Quality for Sub-Compact Car, Compact Car, Compact Crossover/SUV, Midsize Car, Midsize Crossover/SUV, Midsize Pickup." That’s more than any other automaker.

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) has named the Honda Accord Sedan, Fit, Insight, CR-Z, Civic Sedan, Civic Hybrid, Civic Si Sedan, Civic Natural Gas, CR-V, Pilot, Odyssey and Ridgeline a "2012 Top Safety Pick." IIHS rates vehicles good, acceptable, marginal or poor based on performance in front and side crash tests, a rollover test, and evaluations of seat/head restraints for protection against neck injuries in rear impacts. To earn Top Safety Pick for 2012, a vehicle must have good ratings in all four Institute tests.
The people have spoken, and once again, the people have said that Honda is the best overall value on the road. After surveying over 12,000 new-car buyers, Kelley Blue Book[1] gave Honda a 2011 Brand Image Award for Best Value Brand. We received this prestigious honor after Kelley Blue Book talked to thousands of new-car buyers about their perceptions of various auto manufacturers.
Edmunds.com has published its 2011 New Car Buying Guides, and we're pleased to announce that the Fit, Accord Sedan, Odyssey and CR-V have all been named 2011 Edmunds.com Top RecommendedSM vehicles. In addition, the Element was named a 2011 Edmunds.com Top RecommendedSM SUV for drivers with mobility challenges.
Honda has won the first ever Edmunds.com Best Retained Value Award for Non-Luxury Brands. In addition, four Honda models won model-level 2011 Edmunds.com Best Retained Value Awards. Having a clear idea about a car's future resale value is an important part of the car-buying process, and Honda is proud to be recognized for how well our vehicles hold their value over time.
Honda has the great honor of having two of its cars named to Car and Driver's 10Best Cars list[3]. Both the Accord and the Fit boast multiple appearances on this esteemed list. In fact, 2011 marks the 25th time Accord has been included—a record unsurpassed by any other vehicle. And for the Fit, this is the fifth consecutive appearance.
The 2011 Honda CR-V, Accord and Fit were given the award for "Best Resale Value" by Kelley Blue Book's kbb.com[4].
Both the Honda Odyssey and Fit have been presented with 2012 ALG Residual Value Awards. Residual value, (the value a car is predicted to retain over time), is a good barometer of a vehicle's overall quality. As Raj Sundaram from ALG states, "We have seen a strong focus this year on producing high-quality products with great pricing and packaging delivering real value for vehicle buyers."
Kelley Blue Book's kbb.com, the trusted online automotive resource, has named both the Odyssey and Accord Crosstour to their list of "2010 Top Ten Family Cars[5]."
The Civic GX Natural Gas Vehicle (NGV), Civic Hybrid and Insight have been named to the American Council for an Energy Efficient Economy (ACEEE) "Greenest Vehicles of 2011" list. The Civic GX earned the top spot on the list of 13 cars. 2011 is the 10th consecutive year Honda has had more than two cars named to the list. Learn more.
Honda has a long history of environmental leadership, including the introduction of America's first mass-produced hybrid, the Honda Insight, and the first vehicle to meet California's Low-Emission Vehicle standards, well in advance of regulatory requirements. Acknowledgment of our commitment to innovation can be seen by Honda's topping the rankings as the country's Greenest Automaker by the Union of Concerned Scientists (UCS)—for the fifth time in a row[6].
