Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS)
The anti-lock braking system in the Ridgeline benefits from a 4-channel design, so each wheel is controlled individually. Combined with its large brake rotors, short stops are a snap. Brake Assist helps apply maximum braking in emergency situations. And Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD) varies the braking force at each wheel—helpful when hauling uneven loads.
Front Side Airbags with Passenger-Side Occupant Position Detection System (OPDS)
The Ridgeline has larger-than-standard side airbags as standard equipment. The front passenger's side airbag also features an Occupant Position Detection System (OPDS). The system uses special height and position sensors in the seat to determine if a child or small-statured adult is leaning into the side airbag-deployment path. If this happens, the system is designed to prevent the airbag from deploying.
Lower Anchors and Tethers for Children (LATCH)
Three Lower Anchors and Tethers for Children (LATCH) child-seat-mounting positions are built into the rear seats. The LATCH system utilizes both the upper child-seat tether anchors and dedicated lower-anchor points built into the body of the vehicle to help ensure correct mounting of a compatible child seat.
Side Curtain Airbags with Rollover Sensor
Designed to deploy from the headliner, the side curtain airbag inflates in about 20 milliseconds (0.020 seconds), and stays inflated for about 7 seconds. This increases the level of protection for passengers in the event of a rollover or a secondary collision such as with a tree, wall or another vehicle.
Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS)
This system monitors the pressure in all four tires and alerts the driver before pressure loss in any tire becomes significantly low. In addition, location indicators will alert the driver to the specific tire with low pressure.
Vehicle Stability Assist™ (VSA®) with Traction Control
This safety device aids the driver in retaining control if side slippage is detected. When the driver is cornering or must make a sudden maneuver, the system may engage if traction loss is detected.
