3-Point Seat Belts with Automatic Tensioning System
Front 3-point seat belts with automatic tensioning system ride across the lap and chest to help restrain occupants during sudden stops or impact.
Driver's and Front Passenger's Active Head Restraints
In a sufficient rear-end impact, the active head restraints move forward and up, helping reduce and/or prevent neck injury.
Advanced Compatibility Engineering™ (ACE™) Body Structure
ACE™ is designed to efficiently absorb impacts of vehicles of various sizes in the event of front-end collisions. It helps redirect impact energy through the frame and away from the passenger compartment in order to protect the occupants.
Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS)
All Accord models feature 4-wheel disc brakes with anti-lock braking (ABS). Using a special modulator, ABS pulses the brakes to help prevent wheel lockup to help the driver retain steering control during hard braking. In addition, the Accord braking system features Brake Assist to help the vehicle come to a stop sooner when the system senses emergency braking. Also standard is Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD), helping braking performance by distributing brake force among the four wheels based on how much load each wheel is bearing.
Dual-Stage, Dual-Threshold Front Airbags (SRS)
In the event of a frontal impact, the dual-stage, dual-threshold front airbags (SRS) inflate at different rates depending upon crash severity and seat belt use and are designed to help prevent head and upper-body injuries.
Front Side Airbags with Passenger-Side Occupant Position Detection System (OPDS)
Featuring a dual-chamber design, the side airbag inflates to help protect the driver's or front passenger's upper body in the event of a sufficient side impact. The Occupant Position Detection System (OPDS) utilizes sensors in the front passenger's seatback to detect the height and seating position of the occupant. If a child or small-statured adult is leaning into the deployment path of the side airbag, sensors deactivate it.
Outboard Lower Anchors and Tethers for Children (LATCH)
All five seats are equipped with 3-point seat belts. The outboard rear seats feature the LATCH (Lower Anchors and Tethers for Children) mounting system for use with compatible child seats.
Rigid Unit-Body Construction
The highly rigid unit body helps the Accord Sedan achieve its exceptional structural rigidity and crash protection. A high percentage of high-tensile steel helps it to better absorb impact forces from the front, sides and rear, as well as the roof, in the event of a rollover.
Side Curtain Airbags
The side curtain airbag module is positioned along the side of the headliner. In the event of a sufficient side impact, this system will activate to help provide protection for both front and rear outboard passengers. This particular inflator provides an exceptionally quick inflation time.
Side-Impact Door Beams
The dual side-impact door beams help provide protection in a side impact.
Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS)
This system monitors the pressure in all four tires, and alerts the driver before pressure loss in any tire becomes significantly low.
Vehicle Stability Assist™ (VSA®) with Traction Control
Vehicle Stability Assist™ (VSA®) is standard on all Accord models. During an understeer or oversteer condition, it can brake individual wheels and/or reduce engine power to help restore your intended course.
Wave Key and Immobilizer Theft-Deterrent System
The system immobilizes the engine’s fuel injection and ignition, and only a matching digital code in the ignition key can override it. When the driver puts the key into the ignition switch, the switch transmits a signal that reads the code in the key. If the key code agrees with the code in the immobilizer unit, the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) starts the engine.
