For decades, Honda has been an industry leader in engineering Earth-friendlier vehicles.
But we were especially honored when the EPA declared the natural-gas Honda Civic GX to be the cleanest internal-combustion vehicle on Earth.
The GX is the only sedan to be certified as a Super-Ultra-Low Emission Vehicle (SULEV) in all 50 states. And the strict California Air Resources Board named the GX an Advanced Technology Partial Zero-Emission Vehicle (AT-PZEV). The GX comes with a highly advanced CVT (continuously variable transmission) which offers the convenience of an automatic plus the performance of a manual gearbox. Its "effort-sensitive" power-steering system provides remarkable handling, and its responsive engine gives you more power when you need it mostlike when entering a fast-moving freeway.

The compressed-natural-gas (CNG) fuel tank is almost as impressive as its engine. The tank is lightweight, strong and built for safety. And for extra peace of mind, we've equipped the tank with an in-tank solenoid valve that will cut off the flow of gas if the system is compromised, or when the engine is turned off.
Much of the increased legroom comes from the rear suspension's highly compact design, which frees up more space for passengers and cargo and, along with a compact exhaust system, makes it possible to eliminate the floor hump for a roomy, flat rear-floor area.
Grade Logic Control combined with a continuously variable transmission (CVT) helps you avoid gear hunting on uphills and descents, and downshifts for added engine braking.
At the rear is a double wishbone suspension. The system features a special toe-control arm and an innovative compliance arm and compliance bushing that flex to absorb bump impacts, providing a smoother, more comfortable ride. The toe-control arm and bushing are also designed to impart additional stability during hard braking, so the vehicle tracks straight and stable.
