1.8-Liter, 16-Valve SOHC i-VTEC® Engine
The GX engine achieves 24 mpg city and 36 mpg highway.* A host of technologies including special engine mounts, crankshaft, engine block, pistons and connecting rods help achieve remarkable smoothness.
Drive-by-Wire™ Throttle System
Instead of a mechanical linkage from the accelerator to the fuel-injection throttle, the Civic GX uses Drive-by-Wire technology. The system uses an electronic position sensor connected to the accelerator pedal that sends an electronic signal to the powertrain control module (PCM).
CNG
The compressed natural-gas (CNG) fuel tank is almost as impressive as the engine. The tank is lightweight, strong and built for safety. And for extra peace of mind, we've equipped the tank with an in-tank solenoid valve that will cut off the flow of gas if the system is compromised, or when the engine is turned off.
Super-Ultra-Low-Emission Vehicle (SULEV)
The Civic GX meets California's Super-Ultra-Low-Emission Vehicle (SULEV) standard—one of the most stringent emissions standards in existence. In fact, the GX produces 90% less emissions than an average vehicle from 2004.
