The i-VTEC ®, 16 valves and 1.8 liters let the Civic Sedan engine generate 140 horses while using amazingly little fuel. Thanks to sophisticated suspension and steering systems, the Civic is exceptionally agile and responsive. Powerful braking is achieved with front disc and rear drum brakes on DX and LX models, while the EX sports discs all around. And you can choose either the smooth-shifting 5-speed manual transmission or the 5-speed automatic—the only 5-speed in its class.

The 1.8-liter, single overhead camshaft, aluminum-alloy i-VTEC 4-cylinder engine uses state-of-the-art engineering technology to produce an impressive 140 hp, yet it still achieves excellent fuel efficiency and an ultra-low emissions rating, all on regular gasoline.
Honda engineers have designed a lightweight, 5-speed manual transmission. Drivers will appreciate its quick, precise shift action and solid, direct feel. The transmission operates efficiently, so that reliability and good fuel mileage are additional benefits. It also creates less gear noise, contributing to a quieter cabin when driving.
This first-in-class electronically controlled 5-speed automatic transmission offers more gear ratios for quick acceleration and enhanced fuel economy. You get more power, smoother upshifts and downshifts and quieter operation.
Fast responding electronics take the place of a traditional throttle cable and produce greater response, fuel economy and drivability with minimum adjustment and maintenance.
