The 197-hp, 2.0-liter, K20Z3 engine in the Civic Si is harnessed with a close-ratio 6-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. You'll be ready for spirited moves with a totally reengineered MacPherson strut front/multi-link rear suspension with firmer spring rates, beefy stabilizer bars and razor-quick Electric Power Steering (EPS). Roll with standard 17-inch or accessory 18-inch alloy wheels, while available warm-weather tires tighten your grip.

ENGINEERING FEATURES

The 2.0-liter, dual-overhead camshaft K20Z3 engine in the Civic Si produces 197 horsepower at 7800 rpm and 139 lb.-ft. of torque at 6100 rpm. Thanks to special Honda-developed performance technologies, such as the ultra-precise Drive-by-Wire™ throttle system, 3-rocker i-VTEC® variable valve timing, a cold-air intake and equal-length exhaust header, the K20Z3 engine boasts an impressive flat torque curve from idle, all the way to its race car-like 8000-rpm redline. Plus, the K20Z3's intake and exhaust system is quiet and unobtrusive when cruising at highway speed, but produces an aggressive, sporty sound at full throttle.
Fast-responding electronics take the place of a traditional throttle cable and produce greater response, fuel economy and driveablility with minimum adjustment and maintenance.
Usually found only on high-performance and racing cars, the limited-slip unit helps the Civic Si corner at higher speeds. At the same time, it helps give the driver more steering control and faster steering response when accelerating and cornering.
The futuristic design of the 2006 Civic meant that the resulting windshield would be a very large piece of glass. In order to wipe that expanse free of moisture, a better wiper system was developed. The solution was the opposable mechanism with a serviceable blade runner.
The performance-oriented close-ratio 6-speed transmission is lightweight and compact, with a quick, precise shift action and solid, direct feel. Special features of this transmission include close gear ratios for first through fifth gears and a low 4.765:1 final drive for faster acceleration, a stiffer cast-aluminum transmission case for reduced noise, carbon-faced single cone synchronizers on fifth and sixth gears for enhanced shift feel and a low-ratio sixth gear for quieter, more fuel-efficient highway cruising.
