Advanced Compatibility Engineering (ACE) Body Structure
The Advanced Compatibility Engineering (ACE) body structure is a Honda exclusive body design that enhances occupant protection and crash compatibility in frontal collisions. The ACE design utilizes a network of connected structural elements to distribute crash energy more evenly throughout the front of the vehicle. This enhanced frontal crash energy management helps to reduce the forces transferred to the passenger compartment and can help to more evenly disperse the forces transferred to other vehicles in a crash.
Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD)
The anti-lock braking system (ABS) helps you maintain steering control during hard stops. Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD) balances braking forces at each wheel according to how the car is loaded dynamically.
Daytime Running Lights (DRL)
The Civic enhances its visibility to others by incorporating Daytime Running Lights (DRL) up front.
Driver's and Front Passenger's Active Head Restraints
In a sufficient rear-end impact, the active head restraints move forward and up in a fraction of a second, helping reduce the likelihood of neck injury.
Dual-Stage, Multiple-Threshold Front Airbags (SRS)
The vehicle is equipped with dual-stage, multiple-threshold front airbags (SRS). One or both of these airbags will be deployed only in the event of a sufficient frontal impact. If deployed, these airbags are capable of being inflated at different rates depending on crash severity, seatbelt usage and other factors. Frontal airbags are designed to supplement the seatbelts to help reduce the likelihood of head and upper body injuries in frontal crashes.
Front 3-Point Seat Belts with Automatic Tensioning System
All front and rear seats have 3-point seat belts that ride across the lap and chest to help restrain occupants during sudden stops or impact. The front seats feature an automatic tensioning system.
Front Side Airbags with Passenger-Side Occupant Position Detection System (OPDS)
In the event of a moderate-to-severe side impact, the side airbag inflates to help protect the driver's or front passenger's upper body. The Occupant Position Detection System (OPDS) utilizes sensors in the front passenger's seatback to detect the height and seating position of the occupant. If a child or small-statured adult is leaning into the deployment path of the side airbag, sensors deactivate it.
Outboard Rear Seat Lower Anchors and Tethers for CHildren (LATCH)
The outboard rear seats feature the LATCH (Lower Anchors and Tethers for CHildren) mounting system for use with compatible child seats.
Side Curtain Airbags
To help lessen the likelihood of head and neck injuries in side collisions, all Civic models feature standard side curtain airbags. The side curtain airbag module is positioned along the side of the headliner. In the event of a sufficient side impact, this system will activate to help provide protection for both front and outboard rear passengers.
Side-Impact Door Beams
High-tensile-steel beams placed in the doors of the Si help to prevent the intrusion of crash forces in a side impact.
Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS)
This system monitors the pressure in all four tires and alerts the driver when pressure in any tire becomes significantly low.
For optimal tire wear and performance, tire pressure should be checked regularly with a gauge. Do not rely solely on the monitor system. Please see your Honda dealer for details.
Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA®) with Traction Control
VSA can brake individual wheels and/or reduce engine power in the event of oversteer or understeer to help regain the driver's intended path. The system also features a traction-control function to help prevent wheelspin during acceleration.
VSA is not a substitute for safe driving. It cannot correct the vehicle's course in every situation or compensate for reckless driving. Control of the vehicle always remains with the driver.
