What do you call a commitment to provide advanced safety technology in every vehicle you sell, regardless of price? We call it "Safety for Everyone." And that philosophy is alive and well at Honda.

Every CR-V comes complete with side curtain airbags, anti-lock brakes (ABS) and our Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA®) system and brake assist. It's a thorough array of features that has earned it a government 5-star front and side crash-test rating—the highest possible.*

*Government star ratings are part of National Highway Traffic and Safety Administration's (NHTSA) NCAP program found at Safercar.gov.
SAFETY FEATURES

The anti-lock braking system (ABS) uses a special modulator to pulse the brakes to help prevent wheel lockup. This helps the driver retain steering control when braking hard. The Electronic Brake Distribution system (EBD) balances the front/rear braking forces.
In the event of a moderate-to-severe frontal impact, the dual-stage, dual-threshold front airbags (SRS) inflate and deflate in a fraction of a second and are designed to help prevent head and upper-body injuries.
The front and rear crush zones help provide driver and passenger protection in front and rear impacts.
In the event of a moderate-to-severe side impact, the side airbag inflates to help protect the driver's or front passenger's upper body. Plus the Occupant Position Detection System (OPDS) utilizes sensors in the front passenger's seatback to detect the height and seating position of the occupant. If a child or small-statured adult is leaning into the deployment path of the side airbag, sensors deactivate it.
All five seats are equipped with 3-point seat belts. The rear seat features the LATCH (Lower Anchors and Tethers for Children) mounting system for use with compatible child seats.
The chassis of the CR-V utilizes unit-body construction with extensive cross-bracing and stiffening members incorporated into key areas. This improves strength and durability during light off-highway driving conditions, and reduces road noise and vibration in conventional driving situations.
Front and rear 3-point seat belts with pretensioners ride across the lap and chest to help restrain occupants during sudden stops or impact.
The side curtain airbag module is positioned along the side of the headliner. In the event of a sufficient side impact, this system will activate to help provide protection for both front and rear passengers. A new type of inflator provides an exceptionally quick inflation time. The rollover sensor detects an impending rollover and deploys both sets of curtain airbags.
The dual side-impact door beams help provide protection in a side impact.
This sophisticated safety device aids the driver in retaining control of the vehicle if side slippage is detected. When the driver is cornering or must make a sudden maneuver, the system may engage if traction loss is detected.
The system immobilizes the engine's fuel injection and ignition, and only a matching digital code in the ignition key can override it. When the driver puts the key into the ignition switch, the switch transmits a signal that reads the code in the key. If the key code agrees with the code in the powertrain control module (PCM), the engine starts.
