Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS)
The Element has an anti-lock braking system (ABS) that uses a special modulator to pulse the brakes to help prevent wheel lockup. This helps the driver retain steering control during hard braking. The Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD) system balances the front/rear braking forces during dynamic loading.
Daytime Running Lights (DRL)
The Element enhances its visibility to others by incorporating Daytime Running Lights (DRL) up front.
Dual-Stage, Multiple-Threshold Front Airbags (SRS)
The Element is equipped with dual-stage, multiple-threshold front airbags (SRS). One or both of these airbags will be deployed only in the event of a sufficient frontal impact. If deployed, these airbags are capable of being inflated at different rates depending on crash severity, seat-belt usage and other factors. Frontal airbags are designed to supplement the seat belts to help reduce the likelihood of head and upper body injuries in frontal crashes.
Front 3-Point Seat Belts with Automatic Tensioning System
Front 3-point seat belts with an automatic tensioning system ride across the lap and chest to help restrain occupants during sudden stops or impact.
Front Side Airbags with Passenger-Side Occupant Position Detection System (OPDS)
In the event of a moderate-to-severe side impact, the side airbag inflates to help protect the driver's or front passenger's upper body. The Occupant Position Detection System (OPDS) utilizes sensors in the front passenger's seatback to detect the height and seating position of the occupant. If a child or small-statured adult is leaning into the deployment path of the side airbag, sensors deactivate it.
Lower Anchors and Tethers for CHildren (LATCH)
All 2010 Element models are equipped with LATCH (Lower Anchors and Tethers for CHildren) for passengers in the second row. The LATCH system provides two lower anchors and an upper tether anchor. When used with a compatible child seat, the LATCH system provides attachment points between the child seat and the vehicle seat.
Side Curtain Airbags with Rollover Sensor
The Element provides standard side curtain airbags. In addition to the protection they offer front and outboard rear occupants in the event of a side impact, these side curtain airbags are also connected to a rollover sensor to help provide protection in a rollover.

Side-Impact Door Beams
The side-impact door beams help provide enhanced structural protection in a side impact.
Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS)
This system monitors the pressure in all four tires, and alerts the driver before pressure loss in any tire becomes significantly low[1].

[1] For optimal tire wear and performance, tire pressure should be checked regularly with a gauge. Do not rely solely on the monitor system. Please see your Honda dealer for details.
Vehicle Stability Assist™ (VSA®) with Traction Control
This intricate safety system aids the driver in retaining control of the vehicle if side slippage is detected during oversteer or understeer conditions. When the driver is cornering or must make a sudden maneuver and traction loss is detected, the system will engage to help restore the driver's intended course[1].

[1] VSA is not a substitute for safe driving. It cannot correct the vehicle's course in every situation or compensate for reckless driving. Control of the vehicle always remains with the driver.
