All essential and advanced safety features come standard—like the
anti-lock braking system (ABS) with
Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD). These and other standard safety features helped the Civic earn 5 stars in NHTSA frontal crash tests,* the best possible rating.
Armored Car
Along with side-impact door beams, the Civic was built with an
Advanced Compatibility Engineering™ (ACE™) body structure to redirect crash energy around the passenger compartment. This reinforced body structure is designed to target the highest safety ratings for occupant protection.
Expanding Protection
While sharing our roads with many other drivers, a time may arise where collision is unavoidable. For superior defense during impact, Civic occupants are surrounded by no less than six airbags. The array of coverage includes
dual-stage, dual-threshold front airbags, front side airbags with
passenger-side Occupant Position Detection System (OPDS) and side curtain airbags—all standard.
In Charge
Standard on every Civic, is a complement of advanced safety systems to keep you out of trouble and in command. The Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) alerts the driver when a tire’s pressure reaches a significantly low level.
