Honda is committed to providing safety for everyone—that means crash protection not only for our own drivers and passengers, but also for other vehicle occupants, and injury mitigation for pedestrians. We are dedicated to identifying and implementing advanced designs and features that help enhance the safety of vehicles on the road. Learn more.

Multi-Angle Rearview Camera with Guidelines

On EX models with navigation, the multi-angle rearview camera with guidelines makes it easier to back into parking spaces with extra precision. The standard rearview camera on other models, which displays in the rearview mirror, also includes guidelines to help enhance visual accuracy[1].

[1] Always visually confirm that it is safe to drive before backing up; the rearview camera display does not provide complete information about all conditions and objects at the rear of your vehicle.

Advanced Compatibility Engineering™ (ACE™) Body Structure

ACE™ utilizes a network of connected structural elements to distribute frontal crash energy more evenly throughout the front of the vehicle.

Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS)

The CR-Z has an anti-lock braking system (ABS) that uses a special modulator to pulse the brakes to help prevent wheel lockup. This helps the driver retain steering control during hard braking. The Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD) system balances the front/rear braking forces during dynamic loading.

Front 3-Point Seat Belts with Automatic Tensioning System

Front 3-point seat belts with an automatic tensioning system ride across the lap and chest to help restrain occupants during sudden stops or impact.

Driver's and Passenger's Active Head Restraints

The driver's and passenger's active head restraints help reduce the likelihood of neck injury in a sufficient rear impact collision.

Dual-Stage, Multiple-Threshold Front Airbags (SRS)

The CR-Z is equipped with dual-stage, multiple-threshold front airbags (SRS). One or both of these airbags will be deployed only in the event of a sufficient frontal impact. If deployed, these airbags are capable of being inflated at different rates depending on crash severity, seat-belt usage and/or other factors. Frontal airbags are designed to supplement the seat belts to help reduce the likelihood of head and upper body injuries in frontal crashes.

[1] Honda reminds you and your passenger to always buckle up. The front passenger seat of any vehicle is dangerous for children 12 and under due to the presence of front airbags. Because of this, along with the lack of a rear seat, Honda recommends that you do not carry any child, age 12 or under, as a passenger.

SmartVent® Front Side Airbags

In the event of a moderate-to-severe side impact, the SmartVent® front side airbag is designed to deploy and inflate quickly to maximize potential protection for properly seated occupants. This helps to protect the driver's or front passenger's upper body from injury, or vent before fully inflating if an occupant is in the side airbag deployment path, thereby decreasing the likelihood for an airbag-related injury.

Because of this, along with the lack of a rear seat, Honda recommends that you do not carry any child, age 12 or under, as a passenger.

Side Curtain Airbags

To help reduce the likelihood of head and neck injuries in side collisions, all CR-Z models feature side curtain airbags. The side curtain airbag module is positioned along the side of the headliner. In the event of a sufficient side impact, this system will activate to help provide protection for the driver and passenger.

Daytime Running Lights (DRL)

Daytime Running Lights (DRL) enhance the visibility of the CR-Z. EX models are equipped with LED DRLs, which add a highly visible light.

Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS)

This system monitors the pressure in all four tires and alerts the driver when pressure in any tire becomes significantly low[1].

[1] For optimal tire wear and performance, tire pressure should be checked regularly with a gauge. Do not rely solely on the monitor system. Please see your Honda dealer for details.

Vehicle Stability Assist™ (VSA®) with Traction Control

This sophisticated safety system aids the driver in retaining control of the vehicle if side slippage is detected during oversteer or understeer conditions. When the driver is cornering or must make a sudden maneuver and traction loss is detected, the system will engage to help restore the driver's intended course[1].

[1] VSA is not a substitute for safe driving. It cannot correct the vehicle’s course in every situation or compensate for reckless driving. Control of the vehicle always remains with the driver.
