The FCX Clarity FCEV is officially out on the road. A limited number of these groundbreaking vehicles are currently being leased to select Southern Californians.* Honda plans to deliver about 200 FCX Clarity FCEVs to customers in the first three years of our fuel cell lease program.

The first applicants for this initial round have been identified.* If you missed the first qualification process or live outside the designated area, don't worry. We expect to roll out more fuel cell vehicles as additional hydrogen-refueling options become available. One of the reasons for this limited initial release is that in order to drive a fuel cell vehicle, you have to be able to refuel it. And since these clean cars do not run on gasoline, you can’t just stop at your regular corner gas station to fill up. Hydrogen fuel stations are necessary to refuel a fuel cell vehicle and, as it stands now, these stations are still quite limited in number.
Therefore, only customers currently residing in the Torrance, Santa Monica and Irvine areas who meet additional qualification criteria were eligible to take an FCX Clarity FCEV home. Honda wants to ensure that FCX Clarity FCEV drivers will be able to take their vehicles in for service at participating dealers and have convenient access to refueling stations.
Leasing is being handled through American Honda Finance Corp. and American Honda in conjunction with local dealers. Maintenance is also covered by the three-year $600/month lease.*
A key component of this effort is the development of Honda's Home Energy Station. At Honda we believe that hydrogen fuel cells have the power to change our society’s energy and mobility options, and we are thrilled to have met this milestone with the introduction of the all-new FCX Clarity FCEV.
*Subject to limited availability, in designated, limited California market regions, to approved lessees by American Honda Finance Corp. Closed end lease for FCX Clarity FCEV, for qualified lessees meeting specific use and operation requirements. Not all applicants will qualify. No purchase option. Zero capitalized cost reduction. The Details
3-year $600/month lease*
Leasing will be handled through American Honda Finance Corp. and American Honda Motor Co., Inc. in conjunction with local dealers.
Service and Maintenance Included
FCX Clarity FCEV drivers will be able to take their vehicles in for service at participating FCX Clarity FCEV dealers.
Maintenance will also be covered by the lease.
Limited Availability
A limited number of vehicles will be leased to Southern California residents who have met additional qualification criteria. The first few FCX Clarity FCEV drivers have been announced, more will be selected.
