Shortly after we were married, our car died in a spectacular fashion, and my husband, a life-long "Ford Man," reluctantly purchased this used Civic because it was by far the best bargain for our cash-strapped budget.
Our first big decision as a married couple, it turned out to be one of the smartest choices we've ever made. It costs hardly anything to own - aside from having our catalytic converter replaced two years ago, we've only had to invest in regular maintenance. When it was time to buy a second car, it was an easy decision to buy an Accord, which we love almost as much as our Civic.
It has taken us to weddings, funerals, births and baptisms, vacations and reliably to our jobs, day-in and day-out. Through job changes, home-buying, foster-parenting, and more, it's been right there to take us on this incredible ride. Like us, it's showing its age - a few scrapes and bumps, a spare tire somewhere in there, and the paint has lost a little of its shine - but to me, it's just a sign of character. I'm looking forward to seeing where our Civic will take us for the next 10 years of our marriage.
