With rave reviews like this one from On Wheels Inc., it's no surprise that the 2006 Honda Ridgeline won their Urban Wheel Award for the 2006 Truck of the Year. On Wheels, Inc. publishes African Americans On Wheels, Asians On Wheels and Latinos On Wheels magazines, which are distributed in more than 80 newspapers throughout the United States. The Urban Wheel Awards is the only official event that celebrates diversity during the North American International Auto Show.
When Car and Driver magazine decided to conduct a comparison test of "Do-it-All Compact Pickups," they brought the Honda Ridgeline RTS, Chevrolet Colorado LS, Dodge Dakota SLT, Nissan Frontier LE and Toyota Tacoma SR5 to the severe trails of the Panamint mountain range near Death Valley. After countless switchbacks on rocky trails not for the faint of heart, the 2006 Honda Ridgeline garnered first-place honors. Car and Driver was clearly impressed: "Combine the chassis, bed, and large interior with the smooth, quiet, and adequately powerful engine, and you have, well, a winner. The bar has been raised."*
