There are memories behind every mile in a Honda, and we’d love to hear yours. If your odometer has reached a notable milestone, this is the place to share your journey with others who have done the same. Congratulations—not every Honda travels 100,000 miles and beyond. The stories here don’t represent the average expectancy of every Honda. Everyone’s experience is different based on vehicle, driving manner and conditions.

In 1999 I read about the Insight in the New York Times. I was very interested in a vehicle that gave me great mileage because as a NYC Ironworker living in upstate New York, I needed a car that would provide me with my commuting needs.

Once the 2000 Insight came out I immediately ordered it from my local dealer and I am still using it for my commuting today. I recently found out that I was the first one in the US to purchase the vehicle. The picture I have attached is when she first came from the showroom.

As of today I have over 338,000 miles on my car. However, sadly I must say that I have to retire it soon because of front wheel bearings and the cost factors for parts which as most Insight users know are hard to find and very expensive. I wish that Honda still produced the Insight or a hybrid pick up truck like the Honda Ridgeline.

Overall, I would highly recommend the Insight, especially for great mileage if it was still available.

I'm now up to 182K in my 2000 Insight :-) The Red Rocket ROCKS and I just thought you'd like to know... thanks for this great Insight story, Mark!

The Insight is still available. It just looks different now. I'm sure you already know this by now, though. Great job on keeping the car so long.

Great car, Mark! I live in MI and own a 2000 Honda Insight with about 160K miles on it. I know that 338K is NOTHING to scoff at as far as longevity is concerned, but I drive 100 miles per day and really wonder what it would cost to replace the front wheel bearings on this car? Also, have you purchased one of the 2010 Insights, yet?
